Hi! I'm Henry!

We've been partners in Love & business for 11 years!

We both love

creating experiences for our communities and pushing the limits of what they mean

And I'm Liah!

We founded the Unicorn Castle in 2012 when we got super lucky and were able to buy a run-down Victorian in Oakland. We spent 3+ years remodeling it, doing all the work with our own hands, and turned it into a communal house with 8 housemates.

We started throwing crazy costume parties that escalated further and further until we were putting weeks of work, and thousands of dollars into performance-based adventure parties. It has been the most fun ever!

Around the time we bought the Unicorn Castle, we were dreaming together about the future, and we discovered that we both had the same dream of building an art park somewhere out in the country.

In August 2018, we purchased a completely enchanting piece of land! It has everything we wanted:

  1. It's close to the highway so it will be easy for visitors to find us.

  2. it's only 2 hours from the Bay Area.

  3. there is an adorable craftsman farmhouse.

  4. There are already trails through the hills that take a couple hours to hike and have crazy-pretty views.

  5. There is plenty of flat space for art & camping & running around & permaculture farming.

  6. There is a pond & a spring & a well! ALL THE WATER!

PLUS: There is a huge walnut tree orchard & an existing farm stand that sells Walnuts & local honey! Hence the name of Cosmic Honey.

And the place just feels like heaven.

There was only one problem! Right before we were supposed to sign on the dotted line to buy the land, this happened:

Now the hills are a moonscape of charred chaparral! They look like this:

It was scary, but We decided to go through with buying the land anyway. We just loved it so much!

We look forward to watching the land as it moves from the destruction part of the fire cycle, and into the creation. In the spring the hills will all be green again with brand new growth. There are wild flowers that only grow in the year after a fire! And we get to see them! So special :)

Now that we have the land, we are embarking on the next steps, like making art, Talking about it a lot to all of our old friends, Making new artist/maker/business connections, planting gardens, doing legal things and accounting things. And learning to drive tractors!

Wanna come make art with us? Wanna come have fun with us? Wanna learn about plants & animals & the mysteries of our mama earth? YAY! LEt's talk! Send us a message!
